The road to the Babe Ruth World Series now runs through Pampanga. Nine members of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School Pony Baseball Varsity Team — all of whom are either from or train in Pampanga — were part of the Quezon City Hawks roster that emerged as champion in the Babe Ruth League Philippines National Tournament – 14U Division . The tournament was held from May 29 to June 1, 2026, at The Villages at Global Clark in Pampanga, bringing national-level baseball competition to the province.
The championship-winning Quezon City Hawks roster included AJHS Blue Eagles Axl Alingog, Kyle Baltazar, Joshua Gonzalez, Win Ignacio, Lucas Laurito, Aiden Lazaro, Zachary Nuesca, Rafael Orata, and Diego Silva . With their victory, the QC 14U Team has earned the honor of representing the Philippines in the 2026 Babe Ruth World Series, which will be held in Eagle Pass, Texas, USA this August .
Pampanga's Baseball Talent Takes Center Stage
While representing Quezon City, the nine players at the core of the championship-winning team have strong ties to Pampanga. These young athletes either hail from the province or have been training locally, highlighting the role that Pampanga's baseball programs and facilities play in developing top-tier talent . Among them, AJHS batter Aiden Lazaro was recognized as the Best Player of the Game for his standout performance during the tournament, delivering clutch hits when his team needed them most.
