The Angeles University Foundation – College of Nursing (AUF-CON) hosted Prof. Dr. Piyanee Yobas and Prof. Dr. Mary Jeanette J. Ignacio from the National University of Singapore (NUS) from July 28–31, 2026. The four-day visit featured faculty seminars, scholarly discussions, and structured mindfulness sessions for nursing students, marking a significant step in strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.
Faculty Seminars and Mindfulness Sessions for Students
The visit, which took place from July 28 to 31, 2026, featured a series of activities designed to enrich both faculty and student development. The NUS professors conducted faculty seminars and scholarly discussions, sharing their expertise in nursing education and research . Additionally, they led structured mindfulness sessions for AUF nursing students, providing them with practical tools to manage stress and enhance their mental well-being .
The College of Nursing at AUF has a long-standing reputation for excellence, having consecutively achieved a 100% passing rate in the Nursing Licensure Examination for 11 straight examinations. This collaboration with NUS, a leading global university, reflects AUF-CON's commitment to continuous improvement and its dedication to providing students with exposure to international best practices.
Collaborative Research on Mindfulness Interventions
A key outcome of the visit was the formalization of a collaborative research project titled "Mindfulness Interventions for Enhancing Psychological Well-being among Nursing Students at Angeles University Foundation, Philippines: Transforming Evidence to Education and Practice."
The project aims to generate evidence-based mindfulness interventions, enhance student resilience and socio-emotional learning, and translate research findings into educational and clinical practice. This collaboration addresses the growing need for mental health support among nursing students, who often face high levels of academic stress and emotional demands . By partnering with NUS, AUF-CON is positioning itself at the forefront of nursing research in the region, contributing to the development of a healthier and more resilient nursing workforce.
