BUTUAN CITY — The City Government of Butuan took center stage at the Central Philippines Tourism Expo (CPTEx) 2026, held from June 26 to 28 at Ayala Malls Solenad in Nuvali, Santa Rosa City, Laguna. The expo served as a vital platform for tourism stakeholders to connect, promote destinations, and create new business opportunities. Butuan's participation was part of the Department of Tourism's "Discover More to Love" campaign under the broader "Love the Philippines" brand.
Butuan's Tourist Attractions Take the Spotlight
Acting City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Head Kevin Jay R. Hinaloc presented Butuan's diverse tourist attractions and experiences to a wide audience of travel stakeholders. Alongside tourism representatives from across the Caraga Region, Hinaloc highlighted the city's rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and natural wonders. The expo also featured participation from local government units of Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, as well as private sector groups including tourism transport operators and package service providers from Caraga.
Strengthening Tourism Partnerships
DOT-13 Regional Director Ivonnie Dumadag emphasized the importance of the expo in bringing the Caraga Region to CALABARZON. "Discover pristine white-sand islands, breathtaking landscapes, and authentic cultural experiences as the Caraga Region invites you to explore Caraga beyond the waves," Dumadag said. The event allowed Butuan to expand its connections with tourism stakeholders, ensuring the city becomes more recognized and attracts more visitors. Dumadag also encouraged Filipino travelers to "discover more reasons to love the Philippines," including Caraga and other Mindanao destinations.
