The 2026 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) for Central Luzon takes place from September 2–4, 2026, at Pampanga State University (PamSU) in Bacolor, Pampanga. Organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Central Luzon, the three-day event focuses on food security, sustainable energy, and national resilience, bringing together innovators, researchers, students, industry leaders, and local communities under the theme “Science, Technology, and Digital Innovation Driving Food Security, Sustainable Energy, and National Resilience.”
A Platform for Science-Driven Solutions
The RSTW is one of DOST's flagship programs aimed at providing science-based, innovative, and inclusive solutions across four strategic pillars: human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainability . DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. has emphasized that "science fulfills its greatest purpose only when it protects lives, strengthens communities, creates opportunities, and improves the lives of our people" . This year's event in Central Luzon highlights the region's role as a key driver of national progress, contributing 11.1% to the country's GDP in 2024 , and its growing position as a manufacturing and logistics hub .
Attendees can expect trailblazing technologies and interactive exhibits, forums on sustainable energy and agricultural innovations, and networking with science and technology experts from Central Luzon and beyond . The event is expected to build on the momentum of DOST's recent initiatives in the region, including the establishment of the SARAI CeNTRO for smart agriculture, the Innovation Hub (iHub) for researchers and entrepreneurs, and the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCEN) equipped with 3D printing and Industry 4.0 tools.
Pampanga State University: A Fitting Venue
Hosting the event at PamSU is particularly significant. Formerly known as Don Honorio Ventura State University, the institution was renamed Pampanga State University in June 2025, marking a new chapter in its commitment to transformative and inclusive education . The university has been recognized for its sustainability efforts, jumping from 640th to 478th place in the UI Green Metric World University Rankings . With its strategic location in Bacolor, a town that rose from the devastation of the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption, PamSU embodies the resilience theme that runs through this year's RSTW.
