The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) PENRO Pampanga and Rotary International District 3790 Cluster 4-A successfully collaborated to plant 500 Narra seedlings at the Sta. Rita Eco Park to expand forest cover and mitigate the effects of climate change.
A Collaborative Effort for a Greener Tomorrow
The tree-planting activity brought together more than 150 volunteers, including Rotary Club members, partner organizations, and local community members. Personnel from the National Greening Program (NGP) provided hands-on guidance for site assessment, species selection, and appropriate planting methods to ensure the long-term survival of the trees. The Narra, known as the national tree of the Philippines, is valued for its durable wood and its ability to absorb carbon dioxide, playing a vital role in climate change mitigation. By planting Narra seedlings at Sta. Rita Eco Park, the initiative contributes to the province's green spaces while strengthening the area's resilience against soil erosion and environmental degradation.
