The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has launched the GSIS Subsidy for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Program (GSSP), offering a PHP 15,000 annual allowance to qualified dependents of GSIS members entering college. The application period runs from June 30, 2026, to August 31, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements and Application Details

The GSSP is open to children of active GSIS members with permanent employment status, Salary Grade 15 and below, and updated premium payments for the last three months . Eligible students must be incoming first-time college freshmen who obtained a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 90% in Senior High School and are enrolled in GSIS-recognized STEM degree programs .

A total of 1,000 slots are available nationwide, with 20% reserved for applicants from special sectors, including Indigenous Peoples, solo-parent families, and Persons with Disabilities . The application period runs until August 31, 2026.

Supporting a Technologically Proficient Workforce

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso emphasized that the program supports the national government's goal of building a future-ready Filipino workforce through investments in education . The program aligns with the Marcos administration's priority of developing a technologically proficient workforce that will drive innovation and economic growth .

This initiative marks a strategic shift in GSIS's educational assistance programs, which have previously supported nearly 28,000 dependents of active members with total spending reaching PHP 836 million . The total budget allocation for the GSSP will reach PHP 240 million by 2034, supporting a total of 4,000 students over four academic years from 2026 to 2030 .
