The R.I.V.E.R.s for Life Award: Recognizing Champions of River Conservation
The R.I.V.E.R.s for Life Award is a prestigious annual recognition program by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources that stands for Recognizing Individuals/Institutions Towards Vibrant and Enhanced Rivers . Launched in 2017, the award aims to raise public awareness on the need to protect and conserve rivers from degradation and pollution, and to improve their designated use and classification through appropriate mitigation and intervention measures .
The first R.I.V.E.R.s for Life Awards were given in 2019 during the DENR's 32nd anniversary celebration, with the top prize going to Lamut River in Ifugao, followed by Calbayog River in Samar, and Manaba River in Bohol .
