The Hann Foundation, Inc. (HFI) has been awarded the national winner in the Environment Category and named a finalist in the Education Category at the 2026 League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) Medal of Recognition, held during the 2026 Conference on Good Corporate Citizenship at the Bayanihan Center in Pasig City . The honors recognize HFI's commitment to community-driven social impact in Central Luzon.
Environment Award: Protecting Sasmuan's Mangroves
HFI won the Environment Category for its Sasmuan Mangrove Conservation and Restoration Project, an initiative that demonstrates how environmental protection and community development go hand in hand . Implemented in partnership with local government and the fisherfolk of Sasmuan, the project focuses on restoring degraded mangrove ecosystems, strengthening coastal resilience against climate change, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities . Key activities include establishing a seedling nursery and bamboo dike, conducting regular mangrove planting, and providing surveying tools such as drones and motorized boats to fisherfolk . The project empowers community members to become active stewards of their natural resources, ensuring conservation efforts translate into improved quality of life for future generations.
Education Recognition: ALS Center for Out-of-School Youth
HFI was cited as a finalist in the Education Category for its Alternative Learning System (ALS) Center at Sitio Malasa, Bamban, Tarlac . The center provides accessible and flexible learning opportunities for out-of-school youth and adult learners who have been left behind by the formal education system . Constructed using innovative container prefab technology, the ₱2-million facility includes a modern classroom with learning tools, a teachers' office, and a dormitory for instructors . HFI Executive Director Ana Christi Galura shared that the foundation believes in the ALS Program of DepEd and recognizes the significance of providing educational services to the Ayta community.
