ANGELES CITY, PAMPANGA - The Bálitaktákang Kapampángan 2026, an annual Kapampángan-language debate competition for senior high school students, was held on August 27 and 28, 2026, at the Newpoint Mall within the Nepo Mart Complex. The event is organized as part of the month-long celebration of Búlan ning Amánung Sísuan (Kapampángan Language Month), a commemoration that highlights the importance of preserving and promoting the native tongue. The competition aims to promote the intellectual and academic use of the Kapampángan language among the youth and advocate for its institutionalization in education.
Promoting Language Preservation Through Academic Debate
The event was organized by the Kapampángan Cultural Heritage Unit at the Sínúpan Singsing Center for Kapampángan Cultural Heritage and the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO), in partnership with Ágúman Sínúpan Singsing, Inc., JDN Realty, and the Nepo Center. Since the enactment of Republic Act No. 12097 in 2023, which declared August as the "Buwan ng Wikang Kapampangan," the province has seen a renewed push to preserve and promote the language in various sectors, especially among the youth.
The Bálitaktákang Kapampángan aligns with this legislative mandate by giving students a platform to demonstrate their proficiency in the language while discussing relevant issues.
