DASMARIÑAS, Cavite – Manfred Lawas, a member of the Filipinohomes network, achieved a rare double by winning the Overall Low Net championship at the 3rd El Presidente Cup, a one‑day charity golf tournament held on April 24, 2026, at The Orchard Golf & Country Club.
Lawas, who also took home the Longest Drive award, described the back‑to‑back victory as a “truly blessed” moment. “The course was in great shape, the competition was strong, and the prizes were amazing,” he posted online, expressing gratitude to the organizing committee, his Filipinohomes family, and to God.
A tournament with a purpose
The El Presidente Cup is named after Philippine basketball legend Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez, a four‑time PBA Most Valuable Player and one of the country’s greatest athletes. The tournament serves as a fundraising activity for the Ramon S. Fernandez Sports and Youth Development Foundation Inc. , an organization committed to empowering young Filipinos by providing opportunities through sports, education, and leadership‑building programs.
Proceeds from previous editions have supported promising golfer Charles Serdenia as he pursues collegiate golf in the United States at Southern Utah University. The foundation also extends assistance to underprivileged youth in various sports disciplines, helping them access training, equipment, and competition exposure.
A world‑class venue
The tournament was held at The Orchard Golf & Country Club's Palmer Course in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Designed by legendary golfer Arnold Palmer, the course is known for its rolling fairways, strategic water hazards, and well‑protected greens. A shotgun start began at 11:30 AM, followed by an early dinner reception and the awarding ceremonies. The entry fee of ₱8,000 (₱5,000 for members) included green fees, shared golf cart, giveaways, meals, raffle prizes, and trophies for winners.
Sponsors and supporters
The event attracted sponsorship from major names, reflecting the broad support for Fernandez’s charitable initiatives. Sponsors included Cebu Landmasters, Pryce Gases, the Philippine Sports Commission, RKF Solar Development Corporation, RKF Infra Ventures Inc., Quest Plus Manila, Capital One Solar Energy, and others. Their contributions helped cover tournament logistics while maximizing the funds directed to the foundation.
Lawas’ growing golf legacy
Lawas has previously represented Filipinohomes in golf competitions. In June 2023, he anchored “Team Filipino Homes” at the Fore Ever 2.0 Golf tournament, where his team finished runner‑up. His back‑to‑back victory at the El Presidente Cup solidifies his reputation as a consistent performer in charity golf circuits.
For Filipinohomes, the win underscores the network’s growing presence in the broader sports community, adding a different kind of victory to its long list of real estate achievements across the country. The network, which operates over 35,000 agents nationwide, has long supported employee wellness and sports engagement as part of its corporate culture.
What’s next for the foundation
The El Presidente Cup is held annually, with the 2026 edition marking the third consecutive year of the charity tournament. Lawas’ triumph remains a highlight of this year's event, celebrated by his Filipinohomes teammates and the broader real estate community.
