PHILIPPINES — Philippine Airlines has resumed nonstop flights between Manila and Dubai as of October 2, 2026, restoring a vital link for overseas Filipino workers after a suspension of more than seven months. The flag carrier simultaneously announced a free first rebooking promotion for three Middle East destinations.
A Long-Awaited Return to Dubai
PAL halted its Dubai flights in March 2026 as the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran disrupted airspace across the Gulf. The airline repeatedly extended the suspension through the following months, citing restricted airspace, sudden closures, and limited routing options. Its Riyadh service continued operating throughout the period.
The resumption gives overseas Filipinos in the UAE, along with business travelers, tourists, and cargo shippers, a nonstop option on the Philippine flag carrier again. Passengers flying from the Philippines also regain direct access to Dubai. The airline said it intends to add more flights on the route as operating conditions permit.
Free First Rebooking Promotion
In a news release, PAL announced the "Free First Rebooking" promotion effective immediately for flights from Manila to Dubai, Doha, and Riyadh. Customers may change their flight date once without paying a rebooking fee.
The request must be made at least 15 days before departure and no later than November 15, 2026. The airline said the policy responds to the changing work schedules and travel arrangements commonly experienced by Filipinos. It offers flexibility for workers whose contracts or leave dates shift unexpectedly.
A Confidence-Building Step
Joesyl Vasquez, PAL's regional head for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Indian subcontinent, acknowledged the long wait for passengers and travel partners in Dubai. He described the resumption as an important step in rebuilding confidence and expressed pride in serving the Filipino community and the UAE market once again.
The restart provides OFWs with a direct connection home and restores cargo capacity for shippers. PAL's domestic network offers onward connections from Manila, allowing passengers from Dubai to reach provincial destinations across the Philippines.
PAL's Global Network
Founded in 1941, PAL operates from its Manila and Cebu hubs to 29 domestic and 40 international destinations. The carrier was invited to join the oneworld alliance this year, further expanding its global connectivity and partnerships.
The Dubai route represents a crucial corridor for the millions of Filipinos working in the Middle East. Its restoration eases travel for workers, families, and businesses that depend on reliable air links between the Philippines and the Gulf region.
