Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda and other government officials led the distribution, reinforcing the province's commitment to inclusive development and support for vulnerable sectors.

A Meaningful Celebration of Disability Rights

The 48th National Disability Rights Week, observed from July 17 to 23, 2026, carries the theme "Rights First, Legislation Forward – Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development" . The celebration in Pampanga was a testament to the government's commitment to ensuring that PWDs are not left behind in the province's progress. Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda, together with Representative Florabel C. Yatco, DOH Secretary Dr. Jose Pujalte Jr., and DSWD Undersecretary Monina Josefina H. Romualdez, led the distribution of aid to the beneficiaries .

Aid Distribution and Support for PWDs

Each of the over 2,000 PWD beneficiaries received PHP 3,000 in cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) . The AICS program provides immediate, temporary, and emergency support to Filipinos experiencing unexpected and difficult life situations . Additionally, each beneficiary received half a sack of rice under the assistance program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. . This combined aid package provides both immediate financial relief and essential food support, helping to ease the daily burdens faced by PWDs and their families.

The event underscores the Pampanga provincial government's ongoing efforts to support Persons with Disabilities and ensure their meaningful participation in society.
