CEBU CITY — A bold new chapter in Philippine hospitality began on April 22, 2026, as Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) officially opened the country’s first Radisson RED hotel. Located within the bustling Astra Centre along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City, the P1.99-billion development marks a significant milestone for CLI’s expanding hospitality portfolio and introduces a fresh, art-infused concept to Cebu’s urban landscape. The 144-key property is the fifth operational hotel under CLI Hotels and Resorts, joining Citadines Cebu City, lyf Cebu City, The Pad Co-Living, and Citadines Bacolod City in the company’s growing roster of hospitality assets.
A Strategic Location at the Heart of Cebu’s Growth Corridor
Positioning is everything in the hotel business, and Radisson RED Cebu Mandaue scores high marks on this front. The hotel sits within the 1.23-hectare Astra Centre, a mixed-use complex that integrates a lifestyle mall, residential condominium, and office spaces—creating a self-contained ecosystem for both guests and local residents. Its location along A.S. Fortuna Street places it within easy reach of Cebu’s key business districts, including Cebu IT Park and Cebu Business Park, as well as Mactan-Cebu International Airport, making it an ideal base for corporate travelers and leisure guests alike.
Mathias Bergundthal, First Vice President for CLI Hotels and Resorts, emphasized the strategic importance of the launch. “Bringing Radisson RED to Cebu marks the entry of a globally recognized brand into a market with strong and growing demand,” he said. “This reflects our focus on well-located, thoughtfully designed developments that respond to evolving and diverse travel and lifestyle needs”. The executive also noted that the new hotel strengthens CLI’s regional presence as the company expands its hospitality footprint alongside urban growth in Visayas and Mindanao.
Art, Music, and ‘Red Energy’ Redefine the Guest Experience
What sets Radisson RED apart from traditional hotels is its unapologetic embrace of art, music, and social interaction. The brand, known globally for its vibrant and youthful energy, has been carefully adapted to reflect Cebuano culture while maintaining its signature bold aesthetic. The hotel lobby features a striking jeepney-inspired structure, a custom artwork created by renowned Cebuano artist Vito Selma, welcoming guests as they enter the property. Rooms showcase art from local photographers, and the hotel has even introduced a Cebu-specific mascot: a key-wielding guitar player that pays homage to the city’s deep musical roots.
CLI Senior EVP and COO Jose Franco Soberano expressed pride in the localized vision behind the international brand. “We want Radisson RED to stand out as a Cebuano-led international showcase,” he said, reaffirming that the project is driven by the company’s “love for Cebu, for our city”. CLI Chairman and CEO Jose Soberano III echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in the region’s economic trajectory. “As we grow from our numbers now, the tourism traffic will continue to grow. There are a lot of positive notes here. No place to go but up. And this is where Radisson RED is going to contribute its own”.
World-Class Amenities for the Modern Traveler
Radisson RED Cebu Mandaue offers five room categories ranging from 30 to 60 square meters, including Superior, Deluxe, Family, Junior Suites, and Executive Suites. Each room blends Cebuano-inspired contemporary design with practical features such as high-speed internet connectivity and streaming-enabled smart TVs, catering to the needs of both business professionals and leisure travelers.
Dining and social spaces are designed to keep guests engaged around the clock. OUIBAR+KTCHN serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, while RED Deli offers Asian-style takeaway options. The RED Deck, a poolside bar, provides a relaxed setting for cocktails and bar chow. Additional facilities include a 24-hour fitness center, a full-service spa, a swimming pool, and flexible event venues such as The Studio, The Loft, and the RED Room, which can accommodate meetings, social gatherings, and private functions.
CLI’s Broader Hospitality Vision
The opening of Radisson RED Cebu Mandaue is a key component of CLI’s strategy to diversify beyond its core residential business and build a substantial recurring income base through hospitality assets. The company currently has 10 hotel projects in its pipeline, representing 1,719 room keys, of which 827 are already operational. Looking ahead, CLI has announced upcoming developments including Mercure Cebu Downtown and Citadines Paragon Davao, signaling continued momentum in the company’s hospitality expansion across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
