ISABEL, LEYTE — Demonstrating its commitment to social inclusion and equal opportunity, the Local Government Unit of Isabel held a Special Assembly for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on August 20, 2026, at the Galicano N. Ruiz Center (GNRC).
Empowering Inclusion, Celebrating Abilities
Organized under the theme "Empowering Inclusion, Celebrating Abilities!", the gathering aimed to provide PWDs across the municipality with a platform to amplify their voices, access development opportunities, and increase active participation in local governance. The assembly also served to recognize the distinct talents and ongoing contributions of PWD community members to broader societal development.
Municipal Leadership Backs PWD Programs
In his keynote address, Mayor Bennet Pongos underscored the municipal government's dedication to supporting marginalized sectors. He emphasized that delivering sustained resources, accessible healthcare, and equal opportunities to PWDs remains a key pillar of his administration's inclusive development agenda. Sangguniang Bayan Member Lorena Arpon also addressed the assembly, reaffirming the legislative body's support for policies that safeguard the rights and welfare of PWDs.
Multi-Sectoral Support and Program Execution
The assembly brought together key local officials and program coordinators to streamline civic assistance and community welfare services:
Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD): Represented by Alma Mañosa, providing guidance on social protection initiatives.
PWD Program Focal (F08): Coordinated by Macor Christian Lee Wael to align regional and municipal assistance frameworks.
Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO): Led by Focal Person Allan Indolos to facilitate direct community engagement and intake services.
Through initiatives like the Special Assembly, LGU Isabel continues to strengthen municipal programs that champion accessibility, dignity, and sustainable social integration for all residents regardless of physical ability.
