TACLOBAN CITY — Bringing fresh farm produce and affordable basic commodities directly to urban consumers, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA-RFO 8) opened a two-day "Kadiwa ng Pangulo" trade fair at the DA-RFO 8 Carpark along Kanhuraw Hill on November 4, 2026.
Running through November 5, 2026, the market event connects local agricultural producers, smallholder farmers, and fisherfolk associations directly with city residents.
Direct Market Access For Eastern Visayas Farmers
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo initiative eliminates middleman markups, allowing farmers, fisherfolk cooperatives, and local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from across Leyte and neighboring Eastern Visayas provinces to sell their yields at direct farm-gate prices.
Shoppers visiting the Kanhuraw Hill site can access a wide array of affordable agricultural products, including:
Freshly harvested rice varieties
Locally grown upland and lowland vegetables
Fresh fruits and root crops
Processed food items, fishery products, and local delicacies
Supporting Household Food Security
Spearheaded under the administration's nationwide flagship food security program, the continuous rollout of Kadiwa pop-up markets aims to curb food inflation, ensure stable food supplies for urban households, and boost the direct income of rural food producers.
Regional agriculture officials encourage Taclobanons and nearby residents to visit the DA-RFO 8 Carpark venue during the two-day event to support local agriculture and secure quality produce at budget-friendly prices.
