IMUS, CAVITE — Imus is putting its youngest residents at the heart of community action this November, rallying every Imuseño to stand up for children's safety, rights, and future.
A Theme That Demands Collective Action
This year's theme, "Manindigan! Tumugon at Kumalinga: Sa Batang Handa, Mas Ligtas ang Bansa," highlights the critical importance of protecting children during emergencies and disasters . The theme was shaped by Filipino children themselves, who voiced their realities about climate risks, emergency evacuations, and community safety through national initiatives. The City Government of Imus is championing three core goals: protecting children's rights, ensuring their safety in crises, and providing opportunities for every child to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
A Month Rooted in Law and Legacy
National Children's Month is celebrated every November under Republic Act No. 10661, which commemorates the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1989 . The law mandates that an annual program of activities be prepared and implemented, with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the National Youth Commission, and the Council for the Welfare of Children as lead agencies . For Imus, this month is an opportunity to reflect on what is being done—and what more can be done—to ensure that every child in the city feels safe, valued, and loved. Protecting children is not just the job of parents or government officials; it is a collective commitment that belongs to every neighbor, barangay leader, and community member who chooses to care.
