Bohol — A recent report from the Provincial Statistics Committee reveals a downward trend in both poverty and crime rates throughout Bohol. Data discussed during their second quarter meeting indicates that peace and order-related incidents dropped significantly between 2025 and 2026. This positive shift reflects broader provincial efforts to maintain safety, which is essential for both residents and the tourism sector.

A Safer Environment for All

Total incidents related to peace and order fell from 1,350 cases in 2025 to 999 in 2026, representing a 26 percent reduction. Public safety indicators, which include vehicular accidents, also saw a decrease of over 8 percent compared to the previous year. Even more striking is the sharp decline in index crimes, which dropped by nearly 49 percent. These figures demonstrate a successful trend in managing security across the island's municipalities.

Protecting Vulnerable Communities

The data further highlights the effectiveness of local protection desks, with gender-based violence cases decreasing from 221 in 2025 to 136 in 2026. While crime solution efficiency saw a dip, the province maintained a perfect 100 percent crime clearance efficiency rate. These metrics suggest that law enforcement remains vigilant in addressing social issues that impact families. Such improvements provide a stable foundation for the province to continue its growth and development programs.

Impact on Provincial Stability

Improved security and lower poverty rates contribute directly to Bohol's appeal as a premier destination. By focusing on these indicators, the provincial administration is creating a more secure atmosphere for local businesses and tourists alike. Continued monitoring by the Provincial Statistics Committee ensures that these trends remain on a positive trajectory. This ongoing progress strengthens the province's capacity to serve its citizens and attract future investment.
