Bacolod Hosts the First National Digital Payout Launch
BACOLOD - The digital payout launch brought the UPLIFT Assistance Program into a more technology-based distribution process. During the activity at the Bacolod City Government Center, 52 beneficiaries directly received their assistance through GCash, demonstrating how digital wallets can be used to deliver financial support without requiring beneficiaries to receive their funds through a traditional physical distribution process. The activity was led by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian together with Mayor Greg Gasataya and 5th District Representative Atty. Dino Yulo.
More Than 2,000 Bacolodnons Have Received Assistance
The launch also highlighted the reach of the program's first tranche in Bacolod City. According to the information provided for the activity, 2,245 Bacolodnon beneficiaries had already received assistance through the first tranche. The use of digital payouts provides another option for distributing assistance while reducing the need for beneficiaries to spend extended periods waiting at physical payout locations. For residents who already use digital wallets, the approach can also make receiving financial assistance more convenient.

The pilot implementation in Bacolod reflects an effort to use digital tools in delivering social welfare services.
