The annual celebration commemorates the city's conversion into a chartered city on August 31, 1970, through Republic Act No. 6134. It continues to serve as a meaningful tradition that brings Surigaonons together while highlighting the city's culture, history, and strong community spirit.
Grand Float Parade to Bring Streets to Life
The Charter Day Grand Float Parade will be held on August 31, with participating groups and floats beginning their assembly as early as 4:00 AM at the City Boulevard near the BSP Building. The main assembly of participants will follow from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM at the PPA Terminal. From there, the parade will proceed along Borromeo Street toward the City Hall Compound, filling the city's streets with colorful floats, marching contingents, and lively performances. Residents are encouraged to arrive early, secure a good viewing spot, and join the celebration by showing their support for the participating groups.
