KIBLAWAN, Davao del Sur — Around 32,000 residents across Davao del Sur are set to benefit from the second wave of the national government's rice distribution program. The initiative, championed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., aims to provide food security to vulnerable households amid rising living costs.
A Multi-Wave Commitment to Food Access
The distribution will cover the province's 10 local government units, with 2,900 beneficiaries identified per LGU. An additional 3,000 beneficiaries from the low-income sector, including tricycle drivers and members of the Muslim community, are also included. This brings the total target to approximately 32,000 residents.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Geraldine Lano said the same beneficiaries from the first wave will continue to receive rice in succeeding waves. Those who missed the first wave will receive a double allocation during the second wave. The program ensures that no qualified family is left behind.
Distribution Events Across the Province
A recent distribution event in Barangay Poblacion, Kiblawan, saw more than 600 beneficiaries receive their rice assistance. Similar events are being conducted across all municipalities to expedite the process. The second wave is targeted to end by August 20, 2026.
The third wave is scheduled for October, with the fourth wave set for November. This staggered approach ensures sustained food assistance throughout the year. The government's commitment to regular distribution provides predictable support for families.
Ensuring Fair and Accurate Selection
PSWDO emphasized that it does not directly select beneficiaries. Instead, local government units provide data from the Community-Based Monitoring System. This system ensures that only qualified low-income families are included in the program.
Validation is conducted to avoid double entries or ineligible recipients, such as job order employees and teachers. This thorough screening process guarantees that resources reach the intended beneficiaries. It reflects a commitment to transparent and accountable governance.

Lano assured beneficiaries that the rice distributed is safe, nutritious, and suitable for consumption. Quality checks are in place to ensure that every bag meets standards. The program prioritizes the health and well-being of Filipino families.
