DAVAO — Farming communities across the Davao Region received a total of ₱427.66 million worth of agricultural support from the Department of Agriculture during the nationwide Handog ng Pangulo distribution on September 14, 2026. The assistance reached beneficiaries in Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, and Davao de Oro.
A Historic Investment in Davao Oriental
Davao Oriental received the largest share at ₱347.5 million, led by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and DA-11 Regional Executive Director Macario Gonzaga. The package included a ₱278-million Farm-to-Market Road rehabilitation covering 8.5 kilometers from Mainit, Cateel to Cabasagan, Boston.
Rice production support reached ₱41.2 million, providing hybrid seeds and fertilizer assistance. The Corn Program distributed a combine harvester worth ₱2.13 million and two farm tractors valued at ₱2.9 million each. Mati City and Tarragona corn growers also received seeds and fertilizer worth ₱643,050 and ₱428,700, respectively.
Governor Nelson Dayanghirang expressed gratitude, saying the convergence of government support would help address farmers' concerns and sustain their livelihoods. He emphasized that the interventions would strengthen the province's agricultural foundation.
Davao del Sur Gets P78.3 Million
Davao del Sur received ₱78.3 million in agricultural interventions. The High Value Crops Development Program allocated ₱4 million for the Trichoderma harzianum project, while the Rice Program provided ₱27.225 million worth of hybrid seeds and ₱29.375 million in fertilizer assistance.
Two farm tractors valued at ₱2.9 million each went to cooperatives in Kiblawan and Bansalan. A combine harvester worth ₱2.13 million was provided to a Matanao beneficiary. Three corn husker-shellers were distributed to beneficiaries in Matanao, Digos City, and Bansalan.
The LEED program also provided ₱2.7 million for a beef cattle breeder to the Bansalan local government. Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Marvin Reyes expressed appreciation, noting the interventions would contribute to the province's agricultural development.
Davao de Oro Receives Harvester
In Davao de Oro, the Union Farmers Association of Barangay Union, Monkayo, received a rice combine harvester with transport trailer worth ₱1.85 million through the DA-AMIA program. Chairman Sebastian Paculanang said the equipment would improve harvesting operations and reduce post-harvest losses.
Affordable Rice for Families
The Handog ng Pangulo activities also featured the Kadiwa Benteng Bigas Meron Na! program, which made rice available at ₱20 per kilo. Each beneficiary could purchase up to 10 kilograms. Many families expressed gratitude for the relief amid high market prices.
