COMPOSTELA, Davao de Oro — The 2026 Davao de Oro Provincial Athletic Association (DDOPAA) Meet officially opened at the Compostela Municipal Sports Complex on Friday, September 4. The premier provincial sports event has drawn more than 7,224 student-athletes from across all 11 municipalities.
A Province United Through Sports
The DDOPAA Meet serves as the ultimate battleground for elementary and secondary athletes. These young competitors represent public and private schools from Compostela, Laak, Mabini, Maco, Maragusan, Mawab, Monkayo, Montevista, Nabunturan, New Bataan, and Pantukan. The event runs until September 7.
Governor Raul "RM" Mabanglo expressed gratitude to Compostela Mayor Levi S. Ebdao for hosting the prestigious meet. He reaffirmed the provincial government's unwavering support for sports development. The governor emphasized the importance of nurturing young athletic talent for the future.
A Pathway to Regional and National Glory
The DDOPAA Meet is more than just a competition; it is a crucial stepping stone. Outstanding performers will be selected to represent Davao de Oro at the Davao Regional Athletics Association (DAVRAA) Meet in 2027. The ultimate goal is to reach the national Palarong Pambansa.
The event features a wide array of sporting events, from team sports to individual disciplines. Athletes will compete in basketball, volleyball, football, track and field, swimming, and more. Martial arts like taekwondo and arnis are also featured prominently.
