DAVAO — The Sports Ta Uy Inter-School Competition and Tagum City Athletic Association Meet officially kicked off its competition proper on September 11, 2026. Student-athletes from elementary and secondary schools across the city are now competing in board games, team sports, and other athletic events at various venues throughout Tagum.
Medal Tally Shows Early Leaders
As of September 11 at 5:45 PM, the City Government of Tagum released a partial and unofficial medal tally. In the elementary division, Cluster 1 Tagum Central District and Cluster 2 Tagum North District are tied at the top with five gold medals each. Cluster 1 has one silver for a total of six medals, while Cluster 2 holds five medals overall.
Cluster 3 Tagum South District follows with one silver and two bronze medals. The Tagum City Private Schools cluster has yet to secure a medal. These early results reflect the competitive spirit and preparation of the participating schools.
Secondary Division Heats Up
In the secondary division, Unit 6 representing Tagum City Private Schools leads with four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals for a total of eight. Unit 2, composed of Tagum City National High School and TCRASH, follows with three gold medals. Unit 1, comprising Tagum City National Comprehensive High School, Pandapan Integrated School, and Laureta National High School, has one gold, two silver, and one bronze.
Other secondary units are still fighting for podium finishes. Unit 3, Unit 4, and Unit 5 have yet to secure medals, but competitions continue through the week. The medal standings are expected to shift as more events conclude.

The competition formally opened on September 10 at the New City Hall Atrium. Schools Division Superintendent Alona C. Uy declared the games open, while Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion emphasized that sports build character, discipline, and pride.
The opening parade featured four elementary clusters and six secondary units. Athletes took their oath of sportsmanship, and the Friendship Cauldron was lit. A community dance concluded the program, setting an energetic tone for the days ahead.
Cheerdance Finals Await
Three schools advanced to the Cheerdance finals: La Filipina National High School, Tagum National Trade School, and Tagum City National High School. Their powerful routines earned them a place among the competition's best. The final rankings, including the champion, will be announced during the Awarding Ceremony on September 13, 2026.
Mayor Rey T. Uy, represented by Hon. Ciara Isabelle Uy-Salazar, reminded athletes that they are already winners for representing their families and communities. Plans for future inter-college and inter-NGO competitions were also announced.
