DAVAO — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced plans to construct 42 more buildings at the People’s Ville housing development in Calinan District during a July 23, 2026 visit. The expansion will significantly boost the supply of affordable homes under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pamilyang Pilipino (4PH) Program.
A Township Built for Families, Not Just Shelter
The masterplan for People’s Ville extends beyond residential units to create a self‑sufficient community. A two‑hectare central park anchors the estate, featuring basketball courts, a clubhouse, and a swimming pool. Residents will enjoy green spaces that encourage recreation and foster neighborly bonds.
Recognizing the many children living on site, President Marcos instructed planners to explore adding a school within the development. This reflects the 4PH philosophy of building complete communities, not just houses. The goal is to provide residents with essential services right at their doorstep.
Affordability That Transforms Lives
Each unit offers a fully tiled, 28.8‑square‑meter one‑bedroom space with water and power connections. Qualified beneficiaries pay a monthly amortization of only ₱2,400. This low rate is made possible by the program’s 3 percent subsidized interest and long‑term financing through Pag‑IBIG and the Social Housing Finance Corporation.
The affordability has opened doors for many, including beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Visually impaired massage therapist Lea Rondez, a 4Ps grantee, moved from an unstable rental situation to the calm, orderly environment of People’s Ville. She described her new community as peaceful and disciplined.
A Legacy of Socialized Housing
President Marcos compared People’s Ville to the BLISS housing projects pioneered by his father in the 1970s. The current development echoes that vision of dignified, government‑supported housing for ordinary Filipinos. The project aims to eliminate informal settlements and provide security of tenure.
With 30 buildings already completed or near completion, the additional 42 structures will bring the total to 72 buildings. The development is on track for full completion by the end of next year. This large‑scale rollout demonstrates the administration’s commitment to addressing the national housing backlog through direct, on‑the‑ground action.
