MONKAYO, Davao de Oro — More than 600 poor and near-poor residents from six barangays received their first UPLIFT cash assistance on August 5, 2026, as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI kicked off a four‑day distribution here. The payouts will continue daily until August 8.
First Day Brings Cash to Six Barangays
Beneficiaries from Barangays Onion, Mt. Diwata, San Jose, Salvacion, Diwalwal, and Upper Ulip lined up early at the payout centers set up in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. Each household received ₱2,000 as the initial tranche of a six‑month aid package. The distribution was orderly, with staff verifying identities against a master list from the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The UPLIFT (Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport) program targets low‑income families who are not covered by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. DSWD XI expects to serve thousands more across Monkayo in the remaining days. The municipal government provided logistical support and venue coordination to ensure a smooth process.
Digital Accounts for Faster Future Aid
Alongside the cash distribution, Land Bank of the Philippines and the Bank of the Philippine Islands assisted beneficiaries in opening digital accounts. This step ensures that the remaining monthly payouts—₱2,000 each month from August to December—can be transferred directly to their bank accounts or e‑wallets. The shift to digital disbursement reduces travel costs and long queues for residents.
DSWD XI emphasized that the program aims to protect the purchasing power of vulnerable households amid rising fuel and food prices. The assistance is drawn from the national government’s UPLIFT initiative under Executive Order No. 110, which covers over 7.5 million households nationwide. In the Davao Region alone, more than 100,000 families will benefit.
